The Food Drive Goes On . . . To Next Saturday!

[We have confirmation that the Food Pantry Network truck will be available for us from 10 am to Noon at the bell on Broadway, Opera House Park next to St. Luke's Episcopal. All I can say to everyone is -- do what you can, and it will be appreciated!]

Boom!

OK, we're officially cancelled for tomorrow, and below is the notice that all central Ohio radio, TV, and news/print outlets are getting. I hope you can do next Saturday; friends, if you can't, do what you can, and if no one in your den can cover your area, please let me know by Thursday morning.

Have a pleasant Saturday morning watching the snow fall, and we'll see you out shoveling the little old ladies' driveways in the afternoon when it stops!

Folks -- Can you help us? Last week our Cub Scout Pack distributed 3,000 bags around our community to homes, with flyers offering to pick up filled bags for the Licking County Food Pantry Network if they are set out by 9 am tomorrow. We obviously need to push this back a week. The official announcement is:

Our community wide canned goods drive for the Licking County Food Pantry Network, scheduled for pick-up at homes Saturday morning after 9 am, is postponed to next Saturday morning, Mar. 15. Please help us then to feed the hungry!

Jeff Gill

[the earlier e-mail to den leaders was this:]

Sigh.

Why yes, i have heard there's a little precipitation called for tonight. What are you hearing?

I'm trying to confirm from the Food Pantry Network that we can get the truck from 10 to Noon next Saturday before i pull the trigger, and tell all the media i can get ahold of to put out the word that we're not asking people to put their bags out tomorrow, but a week from tomorrow. If they can't do next Saturday, then i need a Plan C before i move off of Plan A!

But 10+ inches is a deal breaker, even for rough and tough Cub Scouts, and my measure is really whether moving the pick up day will get us more food for the pantry than staying put. At this point, it's sounding like we'll have less food to show for our efforts if we try to pull it off in the heavy snow falling from midnight to 10 am, so i'm *intending* to push us back a week -- stay tuned for final word when i hear from some of our other partners.

Yours in Scouting,
Jeff
